The Platte hunting lodge as a monument
"A living monument ...". The Platte hunting lodge was built between 1822 and 1826 and was used as the autumn residence of the ducal family of Nassau during the hunting season. During the Second World War, it was destroyed down to the outer walls by an aerial bomb in the final days of the war. After decades of decay, the Stiftung Jagdschloss Platte e.V. foundation took over the building in 1987.
The foundation, which was formed from the Erich-Haub-Zais Foundation with the aim of preserving and rebuilding the castle ruins, rented the building to the spa facilities for marketing and operation from 2007 onwards. In September 2014, the Stiftung Jagdschloss Platte e.V. transferred the heritable building right granted in 1987 to the Wiesbaden trade fair, congress and tourism holding company TriWiCon with the handover of the castle. This fulfilled the purpose of the foundation.
Today, Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, a subsidiary of TriWiCon, operates the Jagdschloss Platte, which is also used for wedding ceremonies, for example.
