Jagdschloss Platte and the state capital of Wiesbaden are meeting the challenges of an event location that conserves resources and are continuously expanding the measures they are taking. These include the promotion of energy efficiency and climate-protection initiatives, certification, waste prevention and cooperation with regional sustainable service providers.
Jagdschloss Platte: "transforming old into new"
Built in the 19th century, Jagdschloss Platte is a living monument and event location in the middle of the forests of the Taunus today. The structure, which was destroyed down to its exterior walls, was restored and modernised in compliance with the standards for listed buildings. The historic character of the ruin remained unchanged and was enhanced with new, modern elements such as a glass roof and a platform with a view of 85 km of Taunus forests.
The combination of old, well-preserved architecture and new elements as well as the glass roof and viewing platform underline the unique character of the castle.
Highest levels of energy efficiency
Jagdschloss Platte is designed such that events can be held comfortably in all seasons. Modern energy-optimised air-conditioning and heating technology as well as thermally insulated, multi-glazed windows guarantee low energy consumption during the cold months.
In order to provide the conditions for resource-conserving events, the Jagdschloss Platte uses electricity from renewable energies. In addition, the building is fitted exclusively with LED lamps that have low energy and maintenance requirements and a long life. The daylight falling through the glass roof further reduces energy consumption (and thus the total cost of the event), as artificial light is not necessary during the day.
Best certification standards
Fairpflichtetis the sustainability code of the German-speaking event industry. Compliance with the EVVC/GCB sustainability code “rightandfair” is a matter of course for us:
1. STRATEGY. Sustainable management means acting strategically, taking the lead and integration in the company processes.
2. Sustainability is seen above all as an OPPORTUNITY; for solving the effects of business activity in the future and for the benefit of everyone.
3. The "sustainable entrepreneur" feels responsible for their region and contributes to improving the COMMON GOOD.
4. ECONOMIC ASPECTS in balance with ecology and social aspects are equal objectives for the long-term stability of the company.
5. Responsible use of RESOURCES AND ENERGY means first prevent, second reduce and third replace with renewables.
6. The "sustainable employer" practises a high level of SOCIAL COMPETENCE towards their employees, improves their qualifications and secures employment.
7. Out of RESPECT for people, the “sustainable entrepreneur” advocates observance of human rights and is against every form of discrimination and corruption.
8. OPENNESS is an attitude. Transparency of the sustainability measures is the consequence.
9. Voluntary COMMITMENT to sustainability is a commitment to oneself that becomes the company’s aspiration.
10. The "sustainable entrepreneur" makes INCENTIVES for rethinking and acting in order to involve employees and partners in a continuously improving sustainability process.
With ÖkoProfit(ECOlogical PROject for Integrated Environmental Technology), the state capital of Wiesbaden is promoting the conservation of resources and energy efficiency in companies. Jagdschloss Platte has also been a member since 2017 and is consistently pursuing a course of sustainable development.
CSR Regio.Net Wiesbaden provides companies from Wiesbaden, the Rheingau-Taunus district and Hochheim the opportunity to address the topic of “responsible corporate management” as part of a network and to work on systematically integrating social aspects in all areas of business operations. We took part in the CSR Regio.Net in 2022.
As a company, we involve all employees and partners in the continuous sustainability development process. We raise awareness and motivate ourselves both as a team and as individual employees to perform and be actively involved in sustainable management. We are committed to regular audits and the continuous optimisation of our business processes from an ecological, social and economic perspective, and provide incentives for rethinking and acting, and communicate the (environmental) strategies and goals of the company openly and regularly to all employees and partners.
Waste prevention and waste sorting
Whether during set-up, de-rig or during the event – waste prevention and waste sorting affects all our service providers, partners, employees and visitors / guests. Our environmental management concept thus covers a wide range of areas and is based on intensive communication with the affected stakeholders.
Environmentally friendly arrival
The arrival of the participants usually poses one of the greatest problems for the environment. This can be reduced considerably with good accessibility on public transport, a change to e-autos or the organisation of shuttles.
Jagdschloss Platte is just a few minutes by car from the centre of Wiesbaden. Thanks to an e-subsidy from the Federal Government and an e-mobility concept in Wiesbaden, the number of electrically powered vehicles and thus the number of public charging stations is on the increase. There are two ESWE AC standard charging stations with up to 22 kW directly in front of Jagdschloss Platte. The event location is, however, also on several bus routes. If you would prefer to organise a shuttle to take you and your guests from the event location to the hotel, we will be happy to take care of this.
Furthermore, the cooperation with Deutsche Bahn for so called “event tickets” facilitates issuing combi-tickets for our own Jagdschloss Platte event from the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (transport association) and thus contributes to improving our CO2 footprint, leaving private cars at home during events that last several days and relieving the traffic situation.
Catering is another component of events that conserve resources. The ecological footprint of an event is further reduced when event organisers use regional catering with as little meat as possible.
You are not bound to an exclusive catering partner at Jagdschloss Platte. To guarantee the smooth running of your wedding celebration, however, we recommend partners who are familiar with the local conditions and have already organised many weddings at Jagdschloss Platte. Many of our partners are regional, place special emphasis on sustainability and will create your entire menu according to your wishes.
Last but not least, a sustainability consultant trained by the GCB e. V. is available to help event planners with all questions relating to the organisation of green meetings. Get in touch with us!
